How to Export Google Reviews to Excel or CSV
By Doug Nielsen, Product Manager · Updated · first published
Google Maps has no download button for reviews, so exporting them takes a scraper: paste the businesses' Maps links, pick how many reviews per place, and download one row per review as XLSX or CSV. Hubertino charges one credit per review, and the first 100 are free. For analysis, see reading reviews for competitor research.
Key takeaways
- Hubertino: up to 2,000 reviews per place, 5,000 places per job. Places API: 5.
- Exporting every review, capped at 2,000 a place, averages 315 credits a listing, 60 for accountants to 1,134 for restaurants.
- 100 free credits cover one place at 100 reviews, or ten at 10.
- Import the CSV as UTF-8 with place_cid as Text, and convert relative dates yourself.

Three ways to get Google reviews out
Google's APIs return every review only for listings you manage; for anyone else's, the Places API returns a snippet's worth, while a scraper reads the Reviews tab as a visitor does. This guide uses Hubertino's Google Maps reviews scraper.
| Method | Which listings | Reviews per place | What it takes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Business Profile API | Your own: every location on your account | All | OAuth setup and code |
| Places API | Any | At most 5 | Billed at the Enterprise + Atmosphere rate, the most expensive tier |
| Hubertino's reviews scraper | Any public listing | Up to 2,000 | Paste Maps links or chain from a places scrape; up to 5,000 places per job |
The 15 columns in the export
Every row is one review and names its place, so fifty businesses export as one sheet.
The place: place_name, place_google_id, place_cid, place_link
place_google_id is the 0x…:0x… feature ID and place_cid its decimal CID, as in a places export; place_link is the Maps link the scraper opened. The review: review_id, rating, date, text
review_id is Google's key for matching a review across exports; rating is 1 to 5 stars; date is as Google prints it (see below); text is the full review, empty for star-only reviews. The reply and reactions: owner_response, likes, photos_count
The business's reply, helpful votes and photo count (photos aren't downloaded); empty or 0 when there are none. The reviewer: author, author_link, author_reviews, author_is_local_guide
Name, profile link, review count and Local Guide status. Reviewers are private people; delete these four unless your analysis needs them.

Example
Budgeting a job
What 100 free credits cover
A reviews job reserves places × per-place cap up front (or your balance, if smaller) and refunds what it doesn't use. At the medians above, 100 credits buy the whole review history of 3 accountants, or the first 100 of a median dentist's 300. After that a review costs one credit, $0.276–$0.58 per 1,000 by plan or pack.
- one place, 100 reviews
- 1 × 100
- four places, 25 each
- 4 × 25
- ten places, 10 each
- 10 × 10

How to export the reviews, step by step
Collect the places
Chain from a finished places scrape, or paste Maps links, 0x…:0x… feature IDs or CIDs, one per line; a places export has them in its location_link, google_id and cid columns.Pick which ones
Chained places start ticked; filter by name, city or category and untick the rest, since each can use a full cap.Set the reviews per place
1 to 2,000. Reviews come in Google's “Most relevant” order, not newest first, so to get every review, set the cap above the place's review count.Run it and download
Reviews stream into one table; when the job finishes, download the XLSX, which keeps review text's commas, quotes and line breaks in their cells.
Watch out
Import the CSV, don't double-click it
Turning the date column into dates
The date column holds Google's relative text (“3 months ago”, “a year ago”, “Edited 2 years ago”), counted from your export day and coarser with age: after a year, only years.
Keep the export date in a column, subtract the number and unit (“a” means one), and group by month for the past year, by year before that.
